Its FAST fiber composition (abaca, cellulose, and plant-based polylactic acid) produces faster, more consistent drawdown than standard filters while keeping the cup clean and free of paper flavor. Available as filters only; the UFO Dripper is sold separately.

Engineered for the UFO Dripper's Geometry

Most cone filters are designed for a range of drippers and make compromises accordingly. The Sibarist UFO Special Edition filter is shaped to match the UFO Dripper's 80-degree angle precisely, so the filter sits flush against the brewer wall without gaps or folds. That close fit eliminates bypass, the channel where water skips around the coffee bed rather than through it, which is one of the most common sources of uneven extraction in cone brewing. The result is a drawdown that moves at a balanced, predictable rate from start to finish.

What the FAST Fiber Blend Actually Does

Sibarist's FAST line uses abaca fiber as its primary component. Abaca is finer and more porous than wood-pulp cellulose, which gives the paper higher permeability without sacrificing wet strength. The filter holds its shape under full saturation rather than collapsing against the dripper walls and slowing flow. The blend also includes cellulose from FSC- and PEFC-certified European pine plantations and organic plant-based polylactic acid (non-fossil). Because the fibers are non-wood pulp, in-plant processing is cleaner, which matters practically: fewer residual compounds means less risk of paper taste carrying into the cup, even without a pre-rinse.

A Special Edition Collaboration

The UFO filter is part of Sibarist's Special Editions range, products developed in direct partnership with other brands to reach the specific performance ceiling of a particular brewer rather than a general-purpose fit. The geometry, substance weight, and fiber ratio were developed for the UFO Dripper specifically, not adapted from an existing Sibarist shape. For brewers who have dialed in their UFO recipes and want to push extraction further, or who are troubleshooting bypass and uneven drawdown, this filter addresses those variables at the paper level rather than requiring changes to grind, dose, or pour technique.

Features

No-fold design: fits the UFO Dripper's 80-degree cone without pleating or folding

Bypass prevention: geometry seats flush to the brewer wall, keeping water moving through the coffee bed

FAST fiber composition: abaca, FSC/PEFC cellulose, and plant-based PLA for high permeability and wet strength

Clean cup: non-wood pulp processing reduces residual compounds that cause paper flavor

Sustainable sourcing: abaca from replanted Philippine and Ecuadorian plantations; cellulose from FSC- and PEFC-certified European pine

100 sheets per pack

Specifications

Specification

Detail

Compatible dripper

UFO Dripper (80-degree cone angle)

Filter style

Cone, no-fold

Sheets per pack

100

Primary fiber

Abaca (Philippines and Ecuador, replanted plantations)

Secondary fibers

Cellulose (FSC/PEFC European pine), plant-based PLA (non-fossil)

Included

Filters only. It is also a good fit for specialty coffee brewers who prioritize clean, flavor-neutral filtration and care about sustainable sourcing in their consumables.

This filter is designed exclusively for the UFO Dripper's 80-degree cone geometry and will not seat correctly in standard V60, Kalita, or other cone drippers. It does not include a dripper, and it is not a general-purpose replacement for flat-bottom or wave-style filters.

Common Questions

Does this filter require pre-rinsing before brewing?

The Sibarist UFO Special Edition Fast Cone Filter uses non-wood abaca and cellulose fibers processed to minimize residual compounds, which reduces the paper flavor risk that makes pre-rinsing necessary with many standard filters. Whether to pre-rinse is a matter of personal preference and recipe, but the fiber composition is designed to perform cleanly without it.

Will this filter work in a standard V60 or other cone dripper?

No. The Sibarist UFO Special Edition filter is shaped specifically for the UFO Dripper's 80-degree cone angle. That geometry will not seat flush in a standard V60 (60-degree) or other cone drippers, and using it in a non-UFO brewer would defeat the bypass-prevention design the filter is built around.

What does "no-fold" mean for this filter?

A no-fold filter is a single-piece cone that drops directly into the dripper without folding a seam flat first. The Sibarist UFO Special Edition filter is cut and formed to fit the UFO Dripper's interior as-is, so there is no seam fold to create a pressure point or uneven bed surface.

How does the FAST fiber composition affect flow rate compared to standard filters?

Abaca fiber, the primary component in Sibarist's FAST line, is finer and more porous than standard wood-pulp cellulose. This gives the Sibarist UFO Special Edition filter higher permeability, meaning water moves through the paper faster and more evenly. The result is a faster, more consistent drawdown compared to conventional filters, which can support higher extraction without stalling the brew.

Is the UFO Dripper included with this filter pack?

No. Each pack contains 100 Sibarist UFO Special Edition Fast Cone Filters only.
