aeropress-stainless-steel-filter-xl
AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter XL

The AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter XL is a reusable metal filter made from food-safe, premium grade 316 stainless steel, designed exclusively for the AeroPress XL coffee maker. Its fine filtration keeps grounds out while allowing flavorful oils to pass through, producing a fuller-bodied cup than paper filters deliver. The filter is dishwasher safe and conceived and designed in the USA.

Full-Bodied Flavor, Cup After Cup

Paper micro-filters trap the natural oils in coffee along with the grounds. The AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter XL lets those oils through while still blocking grit, which means each cup carries more of the bean's character: roast depth, origin notes, and body, without the sediment associated with a French press. For brewers who want richness without disposables, the reusable metal filter changes the texture of the result in a meaningful, repeatable way.

316 Stainless Steel: A Meaningful Upgrade

Not all stainless steel filters are the same grade. 316 stainless steel is more durable and corrosion resistant than the 304 grade used in most competing filters. For a filter that contacts hot water and acidic coffee repeatedly over years of use, the higher grade holds its shape, resists pitting, and does not impart off-flavors. The AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter XL is made from 316 stainless steel throughout.

Built for Everyday Use and Travel

Cleaning takes seconds: rinse and dry after brewing, or place it on the top rack of a dishwasher. Because there are no paper filters to stock or dispose of, the filter suits home kitchens, offices, and travel kits equally well. A single filter replaces an ongoing supply of paper, reducing both cost over time and paper waste.

Features

Premium 316 stainless steel: more durable and corrosion resistant than 304 grade filters

Fine filtration: keeps grounds out while allowing flavorful oils through for a fuller-bodied cup

Reusable and eco-friendly: no paper filters to buy or discard

Easy to clean: rinse and dry, or dishwasher safe (top rack only)

XL size: compatible with AeroPress XL; not compatible with AeroPress Original, Clear, Premium, Steel, Go, or Go Plus

Conceived and designed in the USA

Specifications

Specification

Detail

Material

Food-safe 316 stainless steel

Diameter

2.9 inches

Weight

0.73 oz

Size

XL

Compatible brewers

AeroPress XL only

Dishwasher safe

Yes, top rack only

Designed

USA (conceived and designed in the USA; manufactured in China)

Who This Is For and Isn't

This filter suits AeroPress XL owners who brew regularly and want a reusable alternative to paper filters, or who prefer a fuller-bodied cup with more oil character in the finished coffee. AeroPress paper micro-filters trap those oils along with fine particles, yielding a smoother, grit-free flavor profile. The choice comes down to whether a brewer prefers body and oil character or clarity and smoothness.

Which AeroPress brewers does this filter fit?

The AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter XL is compatible with the AeroPress XL coffee maker only. It is not compatible with the AeroPress Original, Clear, Premium, Steel, Go, or Go Plus. Buyers with any of those brewers should select the standard-size AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter instead.

Is 316 stainless steel meaningfully different from 304?

Yes. 316 stainless steel is a premium grade that is more durable and corrosion resistant than 304 stainless steel, which is the grade used in most competing metal filters. For a filter that contacts hot water and acidic coffee repeatedly, the higher grade holds up better over time and resists pitting and corrosion more effectively.

Is the filter dishwasher safe?

The AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter XL is dishwasher safe on the top rack.
